Walmart: A Global Leader in Retail and Innovation

Walmart is one of the world’s largest and most successful retailers, with over 11,000 stores in 27 countries and more than 2.2 million associates. Walmart offers various products and services, from groceries and household essentials to electronics and health care. Walmart also operates e-commerce platforms, such as Walmart.com, Flipkart, and Jet.com, that reach millions of customers online.

But Walmart is more than just a retailer. Walmart is also a leader in innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility. Here are some of the ways that Walmart is making a positive impact on the world:

  • Walmart is partnering with the Humane Society, a nonprofit organization that works to protect animals and prevent cruelty. Walmart has pledged to donate $10 million to support the Humane Society’s efforts to end puppy mills, factory farming, and wildlife trafficking. Walmart is also committed to sourcing 100% cage-free eggs by 2025 and reducing animal testing in its supply chain.

  • Walmart is investing in green energy and reducing its carbon footprint. Walmart has set a goal to achieve zero emissions across its global operations by 2040. Walmart is also the most significant corporate buyer of renewable energy in the US, with more than 50% of its electricity coming from wind, solar, and other sources. Walmart also works with suppliers and customers to avoid 1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.
  • Walmart is supporting local communities and creating opportunities for people. Walmart donated more than $1.4 billion to charitable causes in 2020, including $100 million to advance racial equity. Walmart is also providing education and training for its associates, such as the Live Better U program that offers college degrees for $1 a day. Walmart is also hiring more than 20,000 new associates across the US to meet the increased demand for online shopping.
